Dear reader,
The year 2021 was also marked by the social, economic and political impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the most important task of TU Wien was to ensure the maintenance of safe and practicable university operations: plans had to be revised and resources reallocated. This annual report documents that we succeeded in doing so and, much more, that our staff, employees and students achieved top performance despite the general conditions. Especially at a time when an inhuman war is raging only a few hundred kilometers away, which massively threatens democratic values and successes and at the same time strictly relativizes what has been achieved and accomplished, it is important to reflect on basic values. For TU Wien, this means “Technology for People”. Following this guiding principle, we generate knowledge to gain knowledge and to benefit society. Whether we have succeeded in doing so?
