Diploma Thesis: “Coordinated Scheduling and Beamforming in Coordinated Multi-Point Transmission Systems”
The capacity of modern cellular wireless networks is mainly limited by inter-cell interference (ICI). Coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission and reception were adopted as key techniques for Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) as they are capable of mitigating ICI through cooperation between several cell sites. Therefore, CoMP techniques provide a significant improvement in terms of cell-edge and average throughput. Depending on whether the user data exchange among cells is allowed or not, cooperation in the downlink can be classified into joint processing (JP) and coordinated scheduling and coordinated beamforming (CS/CB).
