Vienna LTE-A Downlink System Level Simulator
Welcome to the webpage of the Vienna LTE-A Downlink System Level Simulator. The pages provides all the necessary information for downloading the latest available version of the in-house developed, MATLAB-based LTE-A Downlink System Level Simulator. The LTE-A simulators are published under a non-commercial academic use license. Please make sure that you understand the terms and conditions of the license before you download any of the available software packages.
- For a non-comercial academic use license please contact sim-download@nt.tuwien.ac.at.
- Would you require a license different to a non-commercial academic one please contact Prof. Markus Rupp.
This list of features summarizes the simulator’s core functions.
The detailed license agreement for the LTE-A Downlink System Level Simulator can be found here. The first page of the document contains a guideline how to get the download link.
To find out whether your department already signed a license agreement and whom to contact, please check the archive of granted licenses.

Using the Simulator
A VIDEO TUTORIAL on the use of the simulator is available here.
For a more complete description, please refer to the documentation.
For any questions/comments/bug reports, please visit our Online-FORUM, where your concern/experience will reach a large online-community as well as the Vienna LTE-A simulator team. The Vienna LTE-A simulators are implemented in MATLAB and require at least the following packages:
- MATLAB 7.8.0 (R2009a)
- Statistics toolbox
Note: Since the Vienna LTE-A simulators make use of the new Object-Oriented capabilities of Matlab (available since R2008a), the simulators will not run under older Matlab releases without extensive changes.

Add-Ons
The released package comes with numerous examples on how to use the simulator and plot its results as well as files to reproduce published results.
Update October 2014: We’re pleased to offer an additional patch, which enables relaying in the Vienna LTE-A Downlink System Level simulator. The files were provided by Felipe Gómez Cuba from the Information Technologies Group at the University of Vigo, Spain.
The patch is available for download under the following link. A detailed documentation how to install and use the patch can be found here.
Related work is available on IEEE Xplore under this link.

The latest modification of the code was applied in September 2013. The patch is implemented for version v1.7r1119 of the simulator. The authors do not offer support for future updates of the simulator. It is the user’s own responsibility to adapt the code accordingly.
Update May 2015: We are pleased to announce that the Vienna LTE-A Downlink System Level Simulator will support the 3GPP 3D Channel Model in the upcoming release. A stand-alone version of the code that was developed based on v1.8 r1375 is already available for download under this link.
