General Information about the Survey

You have received an individual invitation link to the survey from us in the last few days. This link is personalised for you and is not generally valid, which is why we ask you not to forward this link to third parties. The personalisation is necessary for the allocation of the data over several points in time. If you have unintentionally deleted an e-mail containing the link, please wait for the reminder e-mails that we send out at regular intervals. Due to the anonymisation and the high number of participants, it is not possible for us to process individual requests for survey links. We ask for your understanding in this regard.

About the project

Research shows that the ability to work from home has a positive effect on the satisfaction and productivity of individual employees (Gajendran et al., 2024), but poses challenges for team collaboration (Van der Lippe & Lippényi, 2020). The aim of this project is to use the advantages of working from home while minimising the disadvantages. In some teams, a high level of presence and consistent availability is essential due to the work tasks, while in other teams communication is mainly digital and direct presence is less important. In order to better understand the different needs and improve collaboration, TU Vienna is conducting a multi-part study consisting of surveys and workshops with all TU Vienna employees as part of the strategy development process.

The team can be the organisational unit, but does not have to be. It could also be a project team. The important thing is that the people are working together.

The first survey (baseline) will start in June, followed by a series of workshops starting in September. The results of the baseline survey will be presented during the Strategy Week in November. This will be followed by a survey to measure the success of the workshop series.

We ask you for numerous and active participation! We have summarised the most important information for you below.

Research Aim & Project Timeline

“One size does not fit all“

As part of the WEAVE project ‘Managing flexible teams’ with Stephan Böhm from the University of St. Gallen and Audi AG, we were able to use statistical methods to show that teams benefit from clearly defined team rules in several ways: job satisfaction and commitment increase, mental health and perceived team performance improve, fairness within the team increases and loyalty to the company rises significantly. The project was honoured with the HSG Impact Award (HSG Impact Awards 2024, opens an external URL in a new window).

We would also like to generate these benefits at TU Wien. All teams at TU Wien have the opportunity to carry out a structured team reflection process with external support  (Register for Team-Workshops, opens an external URL in a new window).

Ethics & Data Protection

Data protection and ethics are of great concern to TU Vienna, which is why the project is being carried out in consultation with the data protection department and has also been discussed with the ethics committee at TU Wien.

You can find the data protection information here., opens an external URL in a new window

At the beginning of the questionnaire, each participant is asked for the acceptance of the informed consent to the use and utilise the data. This can be refused, which cancels the participation and means that no data is used.

In an elaborate trustee process with the law firm Breiteneder, we ensure that the information provided can never be assigned to any specific person.
