URBANE TRANSFORMATION DURCH SOZIALE INNOVATION

Schlüsselbegriffe und Perspektiven

The transformation to sustainability is high on the agenda of European cities. In order to successfully manage this fundamental and far-reaching change, it is necessary to agree on terms and concepts. For these, too, change, are used and interpreted differently, negotiated socially, scrutinised, discarded, forgotten and rediscovered.
This anthology aims to contribute to conceptual clarity and at the same time open up new perspectives for the practical and academic examination of urban transformation. Including different and controversial positions, the authors each address a key concept. The emphasis on social innovation – itself a dazzling and critically debatable concept – was placed in order to challenge the still dominant technology- and economy-centred approaches and thus expand the scope for sustainable approaches to urban transformation.
