Salil Goel is an Assistant Professor in the Geoinformatics laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. His work focuses on developing technologies and solutions for navigation, tracking and mapping in indoor and outdoor environments for a variety of platforms including terrestrial and airborne. Salil’s notable works involve development of cooperative localization solutions for a swarm of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and a unique ‘motion correction’ technology that can generate 3D point cloud of moving objects using LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). He has been the recipient of multiple best paper awards and has published in journals such as Journal of Applied Geodesy, Journal of Surveying Engineering and IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters. Salil earned his PhD jointly from the University of Melbourne, Australia and IIT Kanpur, India under the Melbourne India Postgraduate Academy (MIPA) in the year 2017.
