Hartmut Dumke studied spatial planning at the TU Wien. Since earning his degree in 1997, he was worked and published on the subject of regional planning, cross-border planning, energy planning and energy governance. His dissertation „Renewable Energies for Regions – Area Requirements and Land Use Competition“ (2017), published here in book format, won the Rudolf-Wurzer Appreciation prize of the TU Wien Faculty for Architecture and Planning in 2018 and won the Sixtus-Lanner Prize in the category „Development in rural areas“ in 2019. Currently, Hartmut Dumke works at the TU Wien Institute of Spatial Planning in the Research Unit of Regional Planning and Regional Development.
